Philippa Stroud, Baroness Stroud

Philippa Stroud is CEO of the Legatum Institute. Philippa's life and career to date have been strongly influenced by her passion to tackle poverty and social breakdown. Previously, she was Chief Executive of the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ), a think tank that she co-founded in 2004. Prior to the CSJ, she was Special Adviser the Rt. Hon. Iain Duncan Smith MP (then Secretary of State for Work and Pensions) from 2010-15, and also to the Prime Minister from 2012.

Prior to going into government, while at the Centre for Social Justice, the "It Happens Here" report was conceived of, one of the foundational reports into Modern Slavery in the UK. Later, she approached Theresa May, then Home Secretary, to ask her to sponsor the Modern Slavery Bill, and was a strong voice advocating for the Government to include Supply Chain Transparency in the Bill.

James Ewins QC

In July 2016, James Ewins QC agreed to become an ambassador for the new and enhanced Modern Slavery Helpline and Resource Centre.

Many partners will know James for the review he was requested to undertake by the UK Government on the visas for overseas domestic workers. James has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the area of modern slavery and we are delighted to have James as our ambassador and welcome his support for the helpline at key events and campaigns each year.
